USS is the largest privately held loss prevention company in the U.S. Our mission is to use advanced technology to help our customers combat theft and run their businesses more efficiently.
USS is known for its Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) tags and systems that large retailers use to deter and catch shoplifters. We are also a leading integrator of video surveillance systems, access control (electronic lock) systems, and radio frequency identification (RFID) systems. USS boasts over 100 patents issued and pending which testify to our company’s spirit of innovation.
Having a strong sense of social responsibility, USS has founded and continually supports two non-profit organizations. One is StopORC, an organization dedicated to combating organized retail crime through education and networking opportunities for loss prevention professionals nationwide. The other is the USS Foundation which works to help and uplift disadvantaged children all across the U.S. and abroad.
USS was founded in 1995 by Adel Sayegh in his garage. Initially the company focused on research and development in RFID technology, quickly expanding into EAS technology too. In 1999 USS launched its first security tag—MilliTag—named to mark the beginning of the new millennium. MilliTag was—and still is—the smallest and best selling reusable security tag in the world.
In the new century, USS continued with an aggressive R&D program that resulted in what is now the largest selection of advanced security solutions available. The company also expanded its service offerings to video surveillance systems and access control systems.
USS has staked its success on open architecture: we chose not to lock our customers into proprietary technologies. Instead, we give our customers an opportunity to combine whatever equipment they choose, even from competitors. This flexibility has left USS as the last true integrator in the loss prevention arena: our customers get exactly what they need regardless of whether USS makes the product or someone else does.
Earlier in 2014, USS launched its most advanced product to date: a GPS-based loss prevention system for tracking and recovering stolen merchandise. USS continues to lead the industry in new product development, and today USS security solutions protect billions of dollars worth of merchandise worldwide.
